Only what Rockstar, Take-Two, PlayStation or Xbox publish counts as confirmed for GTA 6. Everything else, including hacks, "leaked" maps and prices, is a rumor until one of them says it. Confirmed We do not link to, show or describe leaked material on this site.
How to tell official from rumor
Use this order. Stop at the first step that answers the question.
Check a GTA 6 claim in four steps
- Open the official GTA VI site and Rockstar's newswire. If it is not there, it is not an announcement.
- Check the PlayStation Store or Xbox listing. These carry the price, editions, pre-order terms and platform details.
- Look for a Take-Two statement, such as an investor release or earnings call. Quotes must come from the company, not a "source close to" it.
- Only then read press. Treat a single anonymous source, a screenshot or a "datamine" as Unconfirmed.
Be careful with "official-looking" images. Fake store pages and edited screenshots circulate widely. Our scams guide lists the warning signs.
What Rockstar has said about leaks
In September 2022 Rockstar said it was "extremely disappointed" to have details of its next game shared that way, and that an unauthorized party had accessed confidential information. Confirmed It said the incident would not have a long-term effect on development. Confirmed
On August 26, 2026, Rockstar posted a new statement. It called gameplay videos leaking "heartbreaking for our team" and said that was not how it meant fans to see the game. Confirmed It then pointed fans to the Extended Look premiere the next day. Confirmed Nothing in either statement vouches for any specific leaked detail, and we do not treat a leak as confirmed because a company regretted it.

Why rumors keep coming
