At Take-Two's virtual annual stockholder meeting on September 17, 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick said Grand Theft Auto VI is launching as a single-player experience on two major platforms and that, as a result, "no recurrent consumer spending" is anticipated from the launch. Confirmed That matches Take-Two's pre-order announcement, which focuses on a single-player experience.

Day one is the story mode. Online is unannounced.

Asked about online play, Zelnick pointed to the existing GTA Online, which he called a "robust business" that the company will keep supporting. Confirmed

What he did not do is announce a GTA 6 online mode, name one, or give a date. Rockstar has not revealed a name, structure or timeline for any online component, and stories that name player counts or features have no official source, so we are leaving them out.

In short: day one is the story mode. Whether an online mode follows, and when, is Unconfirmed. A later date is possible, but nobody official has said so.

For players, plan around a single-player game on November 19, and treat anything about online as unannounced until Rockstar speaks.
